OUR STORY
From Zanzibar,
with a wider horizon.
ZAHO begins with a simple belief: what we wear can carry a sense of home while opening us to the world.
Our starting point is Zanzibar, Tanzania. From the shoreline of Nungwi to the streets of Stone Town, inspiration lives in everyday details: light on coral stone, the curve of a dhow sail, a carved doorway, the colour of cloth in a busy market.
Stone Town holds centuries of connections across the Indian Ocean. Its Swahili foundations and African, Arab, Indian and European influences remind us that a place can remain deeply itself while being shaped by encounters with the wider world. That sense of rootedness and openness guides ZAHO.
Cloth with something to say.
On the Swahili coast, a kanga brings together colour, pattern and words. Its sayings can express affection, advice or a personal message; its usefulness makes it part of daily life. We take inspiration from that relationship between expression and purpose. In ZAHO, it becomes considered colour, meaningful details and simple silhouettes that leave room for the person wearing them.
A shared East African spirit.
Our roots are Tanzanian, and our outlook reaches across East Africa. Pamoja 2027 draws on the connection between Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, and the joy of coming together through football. We imagine jerseys that carry that pride into everyday dressing: comfortable on match day, equally at home on a city street or at a gathering with friends.

Island Roots brings coastal ease to everyday apparel. Carry the Coast extends the same idea into bags for a morning at the market, an afternoon by the sea and the essentials taken on a longer journey. Our design direction favours comfortable shapes, useful space and branding that feels considered. Beauty earns its place through how a piece fits into your day.

Africa holds many cultures, histories and ways of dressing. ZAHO speaks from its own corner of that richness, with curiosity and respect for the rest. We look towards a wardrobe that can move between Nungwi, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi and cities farther away. Our ambition is to create pieces people choose for their character, comfort and quiet confidence, wherever they call home.
